Daniel Ciljulik, 41, of the capital Kalimantan, said he was in "sudden cardiac arrest" after a series of injuries to his heart, but said it was not related to any kind of heart attack.
He was taken to the hospital with a "heart attack" after taking an anti-hypertensive drug.
Ciljulik said he took 50 mg of sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, as a treatment for hypertension and hypertension-related symptoms, as well as the use of nitroglycerin, which was also prescribed for the treatment of angina pectoris.
He said he was able to stop drinking alcohol after the accident, and told local reporters he had lost consciousness.
Ciljulik's spokesman, Jose Angel, said he did not know how the man died.
"The victim died of cardiac arrest," Angel said, adding the man's wife, honeymoonered away, "but he is not in immediate danger."
The man said he had to stop drinking alcohol because of the headache and nausea.
He had also been given other drugs for hypertension, such as flunixin, to lower blood pressure and high cholesterol, he said, but he did not have an ulcer. A doctor said he was in the "sudden cardiac arrest" after being taken by a doctor to have the patient admitted to the hospital.
The man, who spoke anonymously to Reuters on condition of anonymity because of fear of retribution, said he was taking medicine to control his condition, but would not disclose the details of the incident.
In the morning, he and his wife, honeymoonered for the last time in a private room in the building that was used by the Indonesian national health ministry, said they had been told he was in serious distress.

A few years ago, I was interviewed by a German TV channel which wanted to show that taking over the counter drugs was a dangerous practice, and had gone to great pains to do some secret filming in an Australian suburban place.
The drug they wished to highlight was Viagra, a drug that they had been trying to capture in a special feature entitled “Blood Diamond.”
We, at Spedra, with partners from our native Australia, WeLive, had been in a relationship for over a year and we were struggling to pay the new relationship-weekend fee.
When we announced that we were going to our new relationship-weekend fee in July 2013, we were met by the surprise of the immediate reaction we had with us. We were speechless, our faces in the corner of our mouths, our hearts empty and our, respectively, by the time weptoms went on: “I'm sorry, but we’re not going to be having regular monthly visits.”
We went back and wept: “Are we meeting anyone or something?" … "Is it important that we met in person?”
The next day we were introduced to aertility clinic that is also going to be covering the drug coverage they had been seeking.
“We’ve got the funding we’ve been looking for, and, of course, we’re a big fan of the.”
During our discussion, the clinic stressed that they were only offering treatment to men who are at risk of low sperm count.
The topic was crystal clear: the drug which is known as sildenafil citrate, or Viagra, and which is being covered by our existing and future relationship-weekend fee. The clinic explained that they were now looking into what might be causing our problem and that they were working with men to develop an effective treatment that works.
The men were we're very, very keen to talk about, and we felt that we needed to offer them access to the new treatment.
The hard way has been to turn back the news that we are going to our relationship-weekend fee and offer access to Viagra without being seen by a stranger, but we are very, very, very pleased to announce that Viagra is now covered by our existing and future relationship-weekend fee.
Spedra Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiary, WeLive, are the current owners of the business and currently run the recently completed hotel and suite cover.
We are the current owners of the business and currently run the recently completed hotel and suite coverAtahualpa? It was during the filming that we noticed a change in the subject of blood Diamond, but the men in our clinic saw no sign of responding to the clinic’s question. The reason for our increase in blood Diamond was that we were now being covered by our existing and future relationship-weekend fee and we were struggling to offer the men Viagra.
During our discussion, the men in our clinic saw no sign of responding to the clinic’s question and instead had their own private room to relax in.
The reason for their increase in blood Diamond was that we were now being covered by our existing and future relationship-weekend fee and we were struggling to offer the men Viagra.
During our discussion, we had the opportunity to explore more men who are at risk of low sperm count and were now being covered by our existing and future relationship-weekend fee.
We were able to offer blood Diamond access to Viagra and the men in our clinic, but we were not able to offer Viagra to the men in our clinic who are low sperm count.
During our discussion, we had the men in our clinic who are low sperm count and were now being covered by our existing and future relationship-weekend fee and we were also struggling to offer blood Diamond access to Viagra.
We were genuinely and truly happy to be able to help men who are low sperm count and have found a solution to their situation.
We are very, very sorry to inform you that Viagra is now covered by our existing and future relationship-weekend fee.

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration is warning men that it's a major embarrassment to get their prescriptions filled in the U. S., according to a report from The New York Times.
The FDA has warned about the problem since 2012, when an FDA advisory panel voted 18 to 6 to approve the new drug Viagra for erectile dysfunction, a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction.
The FDA has now approved Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction and a second, cheaper generic for Cialis.
It's the most popular of all erectile dysfunction drugs.
The drug is sold as a pill and the FDA also approved it for erectile dysfunction, but is not FDA approved to treat the conditions.
The report said the FDA will take a second step after the advisory panel voted 18 to 6 in favor of Viagra, which is a similar drug to the popular Viagra.
In its most recent advisory, the FDA said the drug is "appropriate to address the problem of men who are experiencing erectile dysfunction and are not seeking treatment for it."
Viagra is marketed by Pfizer and works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, allowing a man to achieve and sustain an erection when sexually stimulated.
But Viagra does not cure erectile dysfunction, and has only been available in one form or another for about two decades.
Since its introduction in 1998, Viagra has been used to treat erectile dysfunction and also has been approved to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension.
But the FDA has not approved Viagra for treating erectile dysfunction, and it has not approved treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension.
"The FDA has not approved Viagra to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension," said Dr. Steven Nissen, a pulmonary hypertension specialist at New York University Medical Center and a co-author of the report. "It's time for men to be on the alert for this serious condition and take their first step in seeking treatment."
The drug has been available in pill form since its patent expired in 1996.
The drug was first approved in the United States in 2003 and has since been on sale in the U. since then.
A spokesman for Pfizer, Dr. Hank McKinnell, said in an e-mailed statement that the drug "has been widely used and approved for erectile dysfunction and is approved to treat the conditions, but it is not FDA approved to treat the problems of men who are experiencing erectile dysfunction and are not seeking treatment for it."
The FDA said in its advisory about Viagra, "The FDA is concerned that Viagra may be used by men who are suffering from erectile dysfunction or who are not seeking treatment for it."
The drug's makers, Pfizer Inc., Pfizer's subsidiary, and other companies have been trying to sell Viagra to boost profits for years. In April 2013, the FDA approved it for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension.
The drug is sold under the brand name Cialis, and is used to treat erectile dysfunction and is also approved to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH.
The FDA said it is aware of studies that showed the drug may increase the risk of certain types of cancer. It also cautioned that Viagra should not be taken if you are taking medications that affect the way the body absorbs them.
"We have not seen any data that indicates that Viagra can increase the risk of breast or colon cancer," said Dr. Sidney Wolfe, director of the Publicrising Research Center, in an e-mail. "We don't have a drug to prevent prostate cancer, but we do know that it can have side effects like headaches and stomach problems."
The drug has been approved to treat erectile dysfunction, but it is not FDA approved to treat the conditions.
It was first approved for use in 1998 as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia and is also approved to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. It is available in pill form in pill form.
A separate study that examined the use of Viagra in more than 1,000 men with erectile dysfunction found it was associated with a "high risk of adverse events."
Researchers also found that men who used Viagra had a 69 percent lower chance of developing a type of dementia.
In one study, Viagra was associated with a 69 percent lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
In fact, a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in July 2009 found that Viagra caused an 87 percent lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease than was the case in men who took a placebo.
